Kasebier was one of the most famous photographers of late 19th and 20th century for her portraits of Native American women. Her and Montezuma had a letter and photo portrait exchange in the year in January of 1908 where Montezuma thanks her the portrait while also telling her of the situation at the Carlisle School. Montezuma pleads to Kasebier that Pratt needs to be reinstated. Obviously being a famous photographer at this time, Montezuma believes that if she is in agreement with him on the Pratt and Carlisle issues, then she can use high status and connections to potentially do something about the situation.
